On the edge of the world's 2nd largest desert the Great Thar you will find the Bishnoi village. The Bishnoi have a long history of active conservation and reverence for nature. Their guru gave them a key message to protect trees and wildlife around 540 years ago when nobody could predict that harming the environment means harming yourself. He formulated twenty nine tenets. The tenets were not only tailored to conserve bio-diversity of the area but also ensured a healthy eco-friendly social life for the community.  Nearly 300 years ago over 360 adherants were killed by the local maharaja's soldiers whilst trying to save the trees he wanted cut down for wood to build a new palace.

What a better community to support with these pouffes.

Made from vintage sari kantha in the Bishnoi village.

Short 45 cm x 45 cm x 23 cm

Tall 45 cm x 45 cm x 32 cm

They come unfilled, for ease of shipping.  We recommend that they are filled with dacron/polyfill.

However if you would like to continue with the recycling theme then you could use a combination of the following:

  • stuffing from old cushion inserts
  • stuffing from pillows (which you are meant to change each year)
  • old towels or clothes, then wrapped in some dacron/polyfill (also called Hoby fill at Spotlight).

A small takes about 2kg and a large 3kg.

If you want them filled please send an email.
